Today was a pretty productive day. The warmup is with reference; and the other sketch is without~
Did a bunch more work on this little thing today on the Companion 2. It’s a good device! The only downside I’ve noticed so far is that as it goes into power saving, the screen brightness goes down as well.
This is of course fairly obvious, happens with most portable computers; But if you are going to be doing colour work, it seems important to turn that up during at least, because subtleties go away.
So I did a little drawing of my RP character; Lekka again.
Quite like this girl, and I’m planning on doing a sort of mini-comic series with her. Will see how that works out. Hopefully I do it.
I am done! I am done. I will not stop drawing every day, but I will stop feeling the pressure to update constantly.
It is also part of my “resolution” for 2015 that I will work more on producing content to entertain people. I want to write stories, I want to illustrate those stories, and I want them to find an audience. That is in itself a much harder challenge than what I have just done – But perhaps in some small part, having drawn every single day of a year is proof that I can do something.
Have a good new year everyone.
Time to flex the realism muscles again. I know I post a lot of stylized stuff here, things where I seem to struggle to put an eye in the correct spot on a strange triangle for a head – So occasionally I like to remind my readers that I’m actually okay at this shit.
Today it was a portrait, and I spent a fair amount of time on it, so you get a few WIP shots.
Yarr. Refined the sketch and feel like it came along quite nicely. Then I filled it in with flat colour. Still haven’t done that whole painting it thing, but I kind of just did what felt natural – Had a lot of cleaning up to do, bunch of lines that made no sense when you look at them in context, so that’s sorted.
Taking one of yesterdays gesture drawings further by drawing and painting it in a slightly prettier fashion. Was originally going to do this in my sketch style with a few variations ( Like attempts at using full blocked out shadow) – But ended up further converting that into full colour eventually.
I just quite liked the pose in this reference, a lady contemplating her writing in the most casual way possible. – And also it’s a semi-laying down pose, which I wanted to practice.
